Abstract

439,740. Centrifugal separators. CHELTNAM, C. H. W., 188, Adelaide Road, Brockley, London. June 9, 1934, No. 17152. [Class 23] Centrifugal apparatus for separating dust &c. from air &c. comprises a chamber 1 formed with a tangential inlet 4 and an axial outlet 5 for the more or less clean air, said outlet comprising a cylinder 6 and a conical part 8 enclosing a conical liner 9. The bulk of the dust is projected longitudinally through an outlet 11 in the bottom of the chamber into a concentrate chamber 12, from which it passes to a shunt precipitator or collector. The inlet 4 may be provided with curved vanes &c. such as described in Specification 433,647. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the separator is combined with a flue 15 from which the gases may be shunted to the inlet 4 of the separator 14. The clean gases pass by the outlet .5 to ports 21 in the flue, and the dust passes from the concentrate chamber 12 to a shunt precipitator 22, such as that described in Specification 406,036. In a horizontal form, the outlet 5 for the clean gases is connected to an exhaust fan.
