Abstract
Sliding-contact machine parts, such as bearings, bushes, guides and pistons, are made from aluminium alloys containing 9-22 per cent of copper and 4-15 per cent of iron. An example suitable for plain bearings contains 15 per cent of copper and 6 per cent of iron. Solidification of the alloys is accelerated, for example by chill casting.
