[Class 35] An alternator with the neutral point of the stator windings insulated or earthed through a resistance or reactance has the stator core or the whole frame insulated from earth. The insulated stator core, and if desired the winding supports, may be maintained at a potential between that of the windings and earth for example by connecting them to the neutral point or to an intermediate point on the earthing resistance. In the form shown in Fig. 9, the laminae h are supported on bolts i having insulating sleeves and the core end supports k are separated from the casing m by insulation n. In the form shown in Fig. 12, particularly adapted for annular laminae, the laminae h are centred by bars o from which they are separated by insulation r. In another form the frame is separated from the foundation and from the air ducts by insulation or it may be constructed of insulating material. Specification 217,320, [Class 35], is referred to.
