[Classes 120 (i) and 120 (iii)] In a machine for opening, cleaning, carding, or like treatment of textile fibres having in combination two coacting rotatable cylinders one of said cylinders having approximately tangential teeth and the other having teeth arranged to pass thereby so as to effect a stretching or opening of the fibres as described in Specification 408,544, the approximately tangential teeth of the teasing cylinder comprise pointed plates, Fig. 1, the teeth of the doffing cylinder passing thereby at the transfer point so that the fibrous material is pulled from the point towards the wider portion of the flat teeth and is then taken off. The teeth of the teasing cylinder may be formed with a longitudinal slit, Fig. 3, and the point bent back. Alternatively the longitudinal slit is extended to the point so that double teeth are formed, or the two part tooth is formed of round wires Fig. 5, the spacing of the teeth increasing towards the root. In a further modification, the teeth on the teasing cylinder are disposed with their flat sides or channels transversely to the cylinder and are formed with a reinforcing rib a, Figs. 6 and 7, the laterally bent doffing teeth passing adjacent thereto. In further modifications, the flat teeth on the teasing cylinder are bent laterally and may be assembled in pairs, Fig. 8, saw teeth on the doffing cylinder passing therebetween, while a number of saw teeth may be mounted together, the outer teeth being flared outwardly, Fig. 9.
