Abstract
408,544. Opening, cleaning, or carding fibres. TECHNIK & INVESTMENT AKT.-GES., Vaduz, Liechtenstein. Nov. 2, 1933, Nos. 30492 and 30493. Convention dates, Nov. 4, 1932 and March 2, 1933. [Classes 120 (i) and 120 (iii).] A machine for opening cleaning or carding fibres comprises two coacting cylinders 31, 33, Fig. 13, the cylinder 31 having approximately tangential teeth 8, Figs. 3 and 4, with outwardly facing channels extending from root to tip and the cylinder 33 having teeth 26, Figs. 10 and 11, arranged to pass through the channels of the teeth 8. The teeth 8 comprise wall or side portions 9, 10 forming a channel the part 10 tapering to a point 11 and the top edge being formed with a reinforcing flange 12. In a modification, two points 11, 17, Fig. 6, of equal or different lengths are provided. The teeth are joined by lugs 13, 14 to arcuate feet 15, 16 which are secured by flanged brackets 21, 22, Fig. 7, in circumferential grooves formed in the cylinder. The outwardly directed flanges 25 of the brackets 22 may be constructed so as to prevent excessive bending of the tooth tips. The material is fed to the cylinders 31, 33 by feed apparatus 28, 29, 30, and is delivered by a fan 34 through a duct 35. The teeth 26 on the cylinder 33 may alternatively be formed as saw teeth, while in a modification having a third cylinder the teeth on the second and/or third cylinder are bent laterally.
