Abstract
437,606. Sliding - clasp fasteners. PEEL, R., 15, Marlborough Street, Chorley, Lancashire. April 28, 1934, No. 12874. [Class 44] A slider for operating a sliding-clasp fastening, and of the kind in which the member for manipulating the slider acts as a collar stud or other garment fastening or support, is in two parts pivotally connected together to allow removal from the stringers. In Figs. 1, 2 the part 1 having the usual wedge member 3 has lugs 4 nesting between lugs 5 on the part 2. Parts 1, 2, together with the manipulating member in the form of a stud 10 are pivoted on a common pin 11. A plate spring 7, acting on flats, holds the parts 1, 2 closed and the stud 10 erect as shown, with a snap action. The stud may have a fixed, swivelling, or removable head as desired. In a modification, Fig. 5, the stud has trunnions 12 engaged under strips 13 struck up from member 1, and has an extension 14 which, in the position shown, engages the fastener members to lock the slider against movement. In a further modification for use with corsets, &c. the stud is replaced by a loop which supports the tape of a stocking suspender.
