Abstract

437,056. Hose couplings. CARTLIDGE, J. W., 225, Fox Lane, Palmers Green, London. July 20, 1934, No. 21274. [Class 99 (i)] A coupling for securing a hose to a plain bib-cock comprises an internallythreaded socket member 1 provided with a ribbed &c. tubular extension 10 to engage the end of the hose and a mating spigot or collar 4 locating a rubber washer 5, the washer 5 being expanded to grip the cock upon screwing the spigot and socket members together. The washer is preferably mounted in a metal sleeve 6 which is a sliding fit within the spigot 4 and is formed with a flange 8 to abut against a flange 9 on said spigot, and it may be internally tapered to engage a conical seating 3 on a ring 2 located at the bottom of the socket 1. A hose may be coupled to a threaded cock by the socket 1 alone, the ring 2 and spigot 4 &c. being removed therefrom.
