Abstract
436,888. Safety pins for securing bandages. FOWLER, G., 59A, Pembroke Place, Liverpool. April 21, 1934, No. 12035. [Class 131] [See also Group VI) A two-limbed fastening-member for securing a bandage, which passes once only round a limb, has one or more hooks 17 formed on, or attached to, one limb 14, and fastening-means at one or both ends for securing a lace &c. Two safety pins are secured to the ends of a bandage so that their hooks are in staggered relation. One end of a lace is secured to a U-shaped lug 23 having a wedging slit and a spike. The lace is then engaged alternately with the hooks of the two pins and finally secured to a similar lug 23. Tubes 18, 19 (which may be split), U-shaped clips, yokes, or hooks, engage small safety pins 20, which prevent rucking of the bandage. A knot may be formed in one end of the lace, to engage one side of the slit in the fastening member 22. Fig. 4 shows a simple form of clasp 32 and hook 30.
