406,897. Fastening wearing-apparel. WOODS, L., 3823, Cleveland Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. June 8, 1933, No. 16454. Convention date, June 17, 1932. [Class 141.] A sock suspender of the type in which an adjustable band 1, Fig. 2 encircles the calf or ankle of the wearer includes a strip 8 of celluloid at right angles to the band with a clip 19 having an aperture 10 with narrowed portions 11 to engage the sock, and with inner parts 12 to overlie a portion of the strip for guarding the clip opening from engagement with the skin. The band 1 is of webbing or elastic having bent wire staples 2 or other hook engaging means spaced apart and with their rear ends covered by a flap to protect the skin. The staples are engaged by a hook 5 on the other end of the band. The strip member 8 is slotted at 9 to slide on the band 1 and is made of celluloid easily bent when heated and rigid when cold. When the band is mounted on the ankle the strip acts as a brace to hold up the sock.
