436,747. Clutches. NEWTON, N. B., Newton & Bennett Works, Valetta Road, Acton, London. May 18, 1934, No. 15120. [Class 80 (ii)] Relates to centrifugal clutches of the kind having weighted levers c pivoted near one end at c<2> anc having a short crank ed arm c<3> engaging the clutch assembly each lever extending over the clutch assem bly and engaging a stop. According to the invention, the movement of the levers c is transmitted to the clutch assembly through a resilient member. In the form shown, the levers c are pivoted on stirrups b secured to the driving flywheel a and act on a plate g connected through springs m to the presser plate i. The separation of the plates g, i is limited by shouldered pins h. The levers c are guided in slots in the abutment plate e. The plate g is urged towards disengaged position by springs, not shown, surrounding pins passing right through the clutch assembly. In a modification, (not shown), the levers c are supported by ball-and-socketjoints in the flywheel a. In a further modification, the levers are pivoted to the cover plate and act through plungers on a plate connected by springs to the presser plate.
