Abstract

436,596. Electric - lamp holders. ETCHELLS, J., 21, Park Road, Stretford, Manchester, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. April 19, 1934, No. 11853. [Class 39 (ii)] A locking-device to prevent the theft of an electric lamp from a bayonet-joint holder comprises a pin or peg 2 adapted to move in an axial bore in the body 1 of the holder, independently of the contact plunger or plungers, and to bear directly or indirectly against the cap 10 of the lamp, a locking- member 3 transverse to the axis of the holder being provided for controlling or limiting the axial movement of the pin 2. As shown the member 3 comprises a shaft provided with a mortise to receive the head 4 of the pin 2, the remaining part 6 of the section being approximately semicircular and forming a cam. Arbors 7<a>, 7b respectively support the member 3 in a bushing 9 and in a bearing in the body 1 of the holder, so that it can be rotated by means of a key inserted in the bushing 9, the pin 2 being in its locking-position and preventing axial movement of a lamp in the holder when the cam 6 abuts against the head 4 of the pin 2. The lamp may be removed when the member 3 is rotated to receive the head 4 in the mortise. The cam surface on the locking- member may be of any form, or the member may have a conical thread engaging the head of the pin. Alternatively the locking-member may be wedge-shaped and movable transversely over the head of the pin.
