Abstract

436,578. Condensers. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Jan. 8, 1934, No. 685. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 9, 1934]. [Class 38 (ii)] Metallic coatings for condensers are deposited on solid dielectric substances by applying colloidal solutions of metals or their chemical combinations in solvents to opposite sides of sheets of dielectric such as mica, and subsequently heating the dielectric until the solvent is evaporated or burnt off, leaving a thin layer of the metal. Platinum and gold are mentioned, the former possibly in the form of a resinate, with or without the addition of bismuth, chromium or rhodium resinates. Ethereal oils may be used as the solvent. In the example shown in the Figure, contact with the two metal coatings 2 is effected by the use of springs 3 mounted on an insulating block 5. The whole may be coated with a thin resinous protective layer.
