Abstract
Water-soluble polyphosphates are used as additions to known cleansing, wetting, bleaching, and superfatting agents, e.g. in the dyeing or other treatment of textiles, leather, or straw. Polyphosphates specified are those of sodium and of organic bases, e.g. triethanolamine, cyclohexylamine, and amino-propandiol. Detergents and bleaching agents specified are soda, waterglass, borax or other borate, alkali phosphate, soap, organic solvents, enzymes, hydrogen peroxide, perborates, persulphates, and scouring agents, e.g. sand. For example, a mixture of 15 lb. of sodium polyphosphate (Na6 P4 O13), 10 lb. of soda, 10 lb. of perborat stabilized by 1 lb. of magnesium silicate, and 50 lb. of soap, is used for washing clothes.
