435,603. Automatic guns. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., Cranford Lane, Hayes, Middlesex, and VINES, A., 5, Pembroke Villas, The Green, Richmond, Surrey. March 28, 1935, No. 9707. [Class 92 (ii)] A pneumatic piston and cylinder device a for actuating the cocking handle d of an automatic gun is so arranged that the cocking handle is retained at the end of the outstroke of the piston by a detent which is automatically released just before the piston reaches the end of its return stroke. In the form shown, the cylinder is pivoted at b to the gun and the piston rod e is connected to a pivot m on the gun by spring-controlled links h, j to ensure horizontal movement of the forked end f of the piston rod which engages the cocking handle. During the outstroke of the piston rod, a pin g thereon rocks an arm q on the pivot m, the part s of the arm engaging a pivoted detent t to retain the cocking handle when the piston rod returns. Towards the end of this return movement, an adjustable pin z on the link j rocks a lever y on the pivot m and, through a fork v, releases the detent so that the cocking lever is free to return under the influence of its controlling spring.
