435,438. Magnetic tests. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Jan. 8, 1935, No. 652. Convention date, Jan. 8, 1934. [Class 37] Lack of homogeneity in a magnetic body is tested by measuring the second differential of a stray field by rotating a core having as small a Barkehausen effect as possible within a stationary coil, the main axis of inertia or its gravitational axis coinciding with the axis of rotation. The core extremity is shaped as in Figs. 1a, 1b or 3 and may be made of an iron-nickel alloy, or of powdered magnetic material, and it can be laminated.
