Abstract

435,261. Yarn clearers. COOK & CO., MANCHESTER, Ltd., and CHARNOCK, C. J., 18, Exchange Street, Manchester. March 10, 1934, No. 7623. [Class 120 (ii)] In a yarn clearer comprising a pair of movable jaws between which the yarn is passed, one jaw being movable to and from the other and caused to close thereon to break the yarn by the passage of a knot or the like therein, the movable jaw is pivoted and adjustable to and from the other and is held in its adjusted position by adjustable resilient means until moved by a knot or the like in the yarn and is returned to its normal position when released from the pull of the yarn by the resilient means. As shown the movable jaw or blade 11 is adjustably mounted on a plate 10 pivoted by ears 19 on a pin 20 in the support 5 and is adjusted in relation to the fixed jaw 8 by a screw 14 passing through the plate 10 and bearing against the support 5 while a weight 13 adjustable along a rod 12 projecting from the plate 10 resiliently holds the screw 14 against the support. In a modification the adjusting screw bears against a spring-pressed plunger disposed in the support. The side of the plate 10 is curved and, in conjunction with guides 15, 16 guides the yarn, as it is pulled down, to the jaw 8 and beneath the blade 11. According to the Provisional Specification the jaws may be V-slotted and both may be pivoted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 26230 /11, [Class 120 (ii)]
