Abstract
435,037. Bobbin-drag arrangements for spinning &c. machines. BRODIE, D. L., 24, Perganahs, Titaghur, Bengal, British India. March 10, 1934, No. 7693. [Classes 120 (ii) and 120 (iii)] In flyer spinning, twisting, doubling, and like machines, levers 8, 9, rotating with the bobbin and adapted to engage a surrounding fixed braking-surface 14 under the action of centrifugal force, are provided with weights constituted, as shown by balls 16 which, owing to inertia, press the levers more firmly against the brake as the speed of the bobbin increases. The levers and weights may respectively be coupled by links to ensure uniform application of the brakes. As shown in Fig. 6, the levers are housed in a slotted casing 33 carrying the bobbins, and the balls are free to move in the area defined by the inner ends of the levers and inturned parts 40, 41 of a surrounding wall of the casing. As shown in Fig. 1, the levers are pivoted on pins 6, 7 on a disc 1 provided with a central neck to which is screwed a disc 5 carrying the bobbins. Inverted conical pins 24 are provided on the disc 5 or casing 33 and engage cylindrical holes in the bobbin drilled in a direction parallel to the cone of the pins.
