Abstract

434,530. Folding boxes. ROBINSON, E., and BRITANNIA FOLDING BOX CO., Ltd., Dace Road, Old Ford, London. March 3, 1934, No. 6841. [Class 18] A folding box body or lid is constructed with a flange projecting laterally from its periphery by providing flaps 12-15 which are folded on to the bottom (or top), and if desired stapled thereto, e.g. through flanges 14, 15, or are bent to an acute angle, flaps 12<a>-15<a> forming the side walls, and inclined edges 12<b>- 15b serving to give a bevelled edge when the flaps 12-15 are at an acute angle. The side 15 may be prolonged to form a lid 17 with a tuck-in flap 18, tabs 19, 20 serving to carry a locking strip 21, 22, 23 stapled to them within which the sides 12<a>-14<a> are held. The locking strip may have flies 27, 28 with curved edges adapted to overlie the contents. The lid 17 may be replaced by a fly 29, the side wall 22 also in this case having a fly 30, the assembly being used as a bottom section over which a top is telescoped. A modification is also contemplated in which one telescoping member comprises a known construction in which the end is of greater dimensions than the sides, this member being rigid. Flies may be provided on three sides, the fourth being free so that flap 18 may be tucked in. Specifications 265,405, [Class 18], and 408,243, are referred to.
