Abstract
434,408. Pneumatic conveyers. CONSTANTIN, E. J. L. F., 105, Rue Lafayette, Paris. April 23, 1935, No. 12203. Convention date, March 29. [Class 78 (i)] [See also Group II] In a pneumatic conveyer for transferring material in bulk from a hopper 1 through a pipe 5 by means of an air jet 6, the transfer device between the hopper and pipe comprises a vaned wheel 3 rotating in a chamber 2 and having jets of compressed air delivered into the compartments of the wheel by pipes 8 at a diminishing pressure in the direction of travel. Instead of the pipes 8 boxes 10 communicating with the compartments through longitudinal lines of apertures may be provided. The wheel may have two or more series of different sized compartments for dealing with different types of materials. For ensuring that all the material is removed from the compartments as they reach the pipe 5 an air jet 15, Fig. 4, may be directed towards the compartment of which one side is rounded as at the point 13. The size of the communicating space between the hopper and chamber 2 may be varied by inserting longitudinal flat bars 2<1>, Fig. 1.
