Abstract

434,198. Reservoir pads. HEIGHWAY, G., 147, Fleet Street, London. Feb. 19, 1934, No. 5483. [Class 19] A device for applying creamlike preparations to the human skin or to other surfaces, comprises a cup-shaped metal container 3 formed with a threaded boss 4 to engage the neck 2 of a collapsable tube 1, and enclosing a pad 5 of spongy or textile material formed with a hole 7 for the passage of the cream to the surface of the pad. The opening in the neck 2 of the tube 1 may be closed by an elongated plug inserted through the hole 7, and a cap 11 may be provided to cover the surface of the pad 5. In a modification the boss 4 is formed with a tube extending through the hole 7 nearly to the surface of the pad and fitted with a screw cap. In a further modification the pad is formed of spongy rubber having a smooth liquid-retaining outer skin, which replaces the container 3, and is formed integral with an attachment boss which is vulcanized to a hard state where the screw threads are formed, or, according to the Provisional Specification, may be externally reinforced by a metal band or may be replaced by a threaded metal ring attached to the rubber pad. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 174,983, 334,314, [both in Class 19], and 359,799.
