Abstract

536,539. Receptacles for direct application of liquids. FREEMAN. W. S. Dec. 4, 1939, Nos. 31404/39 and 16391/40. [Class 125 (i)] [Also in Group XXIII] A closure device for applying liquids direct from containers comprises a resilient cap 2 adapted to fit over the neck of the container and having a hollow projecting portion 3 formed with a pair of flat faces 4, 5, meeting in a chisel edge .6, the face 6 being provided with one or more outlet slits 7 passing through one or more depressions 8, which facilitate the flow of the liquid, while the face 5 is provided with integral ribs 9, bristles, or is otherwise roughened to form a spreading surface. Side pieces 10 serve as grips for applying pressure. The interior of the cap 2 is furnished with a number of ribs 13 to ensure an adequate seal between the cap and the container. In modifications, the slit and ribs may be on the same face of the cap, or the latter may be dome-shaped with the depressions 8 on the inner surface. The cap 3 may fit inside the neck of the container, and a separate covering cap may be provided.
