Abstract

742,615. Reservoir pads. KIWI POLISH CO. (PTY.), Ltd., July 17, 1953, No. 19847/53. Class 19 [Also in Group XVII] An applicator type container comprises a collapsible tube having a neck the internal diameter of which is at least half that of the container, the neck having therein an absorbent or foraminous plug seated on a transverse wall integral with the tube, a closure cap being, provided for covering the open end of the neck. The collapsible tube may be made by extrusion of metal or a plastic material and as shown is formed with a transverse wall having one or more apertures 6 and which forms a seat for a natural or synthetic sponge plug 9, or a wad formed by rolling a strip of paper or cloth. The plug is secured in position by adhesive or alternatively by a helical groove or other grooved or ridged formations on the inner wall of the neck. The cap may seal the container by contact between its inner diametrical face or a shoulder thereon and top edge of the neck of the container or by contact between the lower edge of the skirt of the cap and a, shoulder on the tube (Fig. 6 not shown). A bayonet or push fit engagement between cap and neck may be provided instead of the screw-thread shown.
