Abstract
434,033. Hasp fastenings. PEEL, A. L., 23, Somerset Road, Handsworth Wood, Birmingham. April 18, 1934, No. 11619. [Class 44] The spring and pivot of hasp fastenings for attache cases are integral parts of the fittings. The hasp plate 3 has its end portion rolled to form the pivot bar 5, and the attachment plate 1 is provided with rolled seatings 2 and an integral curved spring tongue 6 to cause the hasp plate to swing out when released. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the attachment plate 1 and the hasp plate 3 are formed in one piece from spring steel or the like. A hollow arched rib 13 extends across the piece and constrains the part 3 to swing outwards. In the further modification shown in Fig. 6, the plate 1 has a slot 15 and curved pivot seatings 2. The hasp plate 3 has a rolled end forming the pivot bar 5 arranged out of the plane of the plate so that the engagement of its curved part 16 with the attachment plate 1 causes the plate 3 to swing outwards.
