[Class 43] A stud, button cuff link, or like fast ening comprises ai ornamental head i and a shank a hav ing a transverse slot or hole to receive one limb of a secur ing bar c that car be swung into align ment with the shank to facilitate inser tion and then movec transversely thereo: to secure the stuc &c. in position. The bar c, which comprises a loop of metal strip secured at its free ends by a cap e, is urged towards the apertured end of the shank by a spring g and a friction element located within the shank. In a modification, Fig. 6, the spring is dispensed with and the shank a is threaded internally to receive the screw of a detachable button b. Specification 420,605 is referred to.
