Abstract
396,915. Studs. MORTON, T., Woodlea, Oxford Road, Moseley, Birmingham. June 20, 1932, No. 17372. [Class 43.] A collar stud comprises a head b pivoted on a wire c bent to form a pair of side members d extending into a tubular stem a so that the head may be turned into alignment with the stem, a spring g being provided within the stem and betweer the members d. When ir alignment, the head is adapted to rest in a recess in the closed top of the stem and is maintained in position by the spring which is placed between the top and inturned ends f of the wire. An abutment piece i is formed by bending a metal strip so as to enter the spring and pass over its outer edges. The wire passes through holes e such that the members d may slide in the stem. When the stud is in a collar, the head is turned at right-angles to the stem, the members d sliding therein, and is again maintained in position by the spring. The tubular stem is of elliptical or flattened cross-section and the head of elliptical shape.
