Abstract

Stair-rod eyes; clip brackets.-In a stairrod eye, curtain rod, &c. bracket of the type consisting of a metal &c. strip 1 one end 1<a> of which pivots on a screw &c. in a Stair riser &c., the other end 1<b> having a lateral slot for engagement with a headed pin &c. on the stair tread &c., the intermediate portion of the strip is of concavoconvex cross-section with the convexity towards the rod so that only the central longitudinal portion of the eye &c. bears upon the rod. The pivoted end of the strip is spaced away from the riser &c. by a boss 2 around the pivot hole. A spring &c. washer may be arranged between the pivoted end of the eye and the riser &c. To hold the eye in its closed position the upper or lower face of the slotted end is recessed to receive the head of headed pin 3<a> or a thimble &c. secured by the pin 3<a>. To prevent endwise movement of the rod, the eye &c. may have a projection on its inner face to enter a recess in the rod or vice versa.
