Abstract

433,389. Machine guns. MACIEJEWSKI, K., 32, Polna, Warsaw. March 23, 1934, No. 9213. [Classes 92 (ii) and 119] A pneumatic machine gun firing lead shot is operated both as to discharge and shotfeed by a supply of compressed air at constant pressure admitted through a trigger-controlled passage 7 to a chamber 4 to build up pressure therein to open a valve 10 and discharge a shot through the barrel 1, the pressure also acting to operate a rotary or sliding member 17 for feeding shot to the barrel from a hopper 16. In the example shown, the ball valve 10 is connected by a spring 11 with a piston 9 sliding in a cylinder 3 against the action of a return spring 13. The valve is also loosely connected with the piston by a spring-controlled rod 11<b> which acts to open the valve 10 when a pressure sufficient for discharge has been built up, the spring 11 causing rapid closing of the valve 10 when the pressure falls after discharge thereby causing automatic discharge by puffs of air. The piston is connected by a rod to a ratchet device on the member 17 for feeding the shots one by one to the barrel and for agitating the shots in the hopper 16. The gun shown is adapted to form an attachment to the stripped casing of an ordinary machine gun for the discharge of lead shot for practice purposes.
