575,543. Pneumatic smallarms. MILLARD BROS., Ltd., LEE, G. A., and BATER, C. C. Dec. 30, 1943, No. 21838. [Class 119] An air-gun has a reservoir which can be charged by one or more strokes of a handlever pump to a suitable pressure, the discharge valve being opened by air-pressure actuated means when the trigger is squeezed. The reservoir 7 is charged through a port 10 and lift-valve 25 when an air-pump 12, 13 is operated by a hand-lever 22 hinged to the gun body by a swinging link 23. The barrel 5 is extended by a passage 6 into the reservoir and is closed by a lift-valve 24. The wall 8 of the reservoir is connected to the cylinder 11 of the air-pump and is axially slidable. An internal flange 37 in the wall 8 opens the valve 24 when the sleeves 8, 11 are moved rearwardly. - A spring 19 normally presses these parts forwardly to the position shown, in which the end cap 17 of the cylinder 11 is engaged by the sear 34. The gun having been loaded and the desired pressure built up, when the trigger is squeezed, the pressure in the reservoir moves the sleeves 8, 11 rearwardly so that the flange 37 lifts the discharge-valve 24 and admits the pressure air to the barrel, discharging the pellet therefrom.
