[Class 135] [See also Group XIII] In a fluid heater such as a steam generator or superheater, the temperature at the outlet is automatically controlled by a control member A, Fig. 2, at the outlet and by a control member C at an intermediate point in the fluid path, the effect of the member A being at least three times as great as the effect of the member C for equal changes in the temperatures at the two members. In a steam generator, .the members control the supply of heating medium or the supply of water through a byepass 3 to an intermediate point in the generator. In a superheater, the members control the supply of cooling fluid to a desuperheater in the path of the steam. Thermostats A, C, Fig. 6, control through jet regulators, the supply of pressure fluid to a piston 10 connected to a supply valve or damper 19 in the heater The escape of pressure fluid through a nozzle C<12> is controlled by a pad C<13> on a lever C<14> which is rocked upon movement of the expanding members of the regulators. The regulator A acts through bellows 20 in communication with a jet tube A<12> with a pad A<13> on a level A<14> which is rocked by the expanding member of the regulator. The position of the pivot C<15> of the lever C<14> may be further determined by the operating position of the valve 19, either by allowing the pressure below the piston 10 to act on another bellows carrying the pivot or by mechanical means.
