Abstract

433,099. Speed governors. CAPPELLEN, J. H. VAN, S.o. Langsee, Pati, Java, Dutch East Indies. Aug. 31, 1934, No. 25149. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1933. [Class 57] A speed-regulating device for obtaining equal or proportional speeds of two machines comprises pumps 31, 32 driven by the machines and connected by pipes 33, 34, and a cylinder 35 connected to the pipe 33 and also to the pipe 34 by the ports 46, 47. A piston 36 is connected to the regulating device of the machine to be regulated. Any variation in speeds causes pressure variations on the piston 36 and a high increase of pressure in the pipe 33 causes the piston to uncover the port 47 whereby the regulation is stopped until the speed of the lagging engine increases. The device may be rendered ineffective by opening the cock 44. An accumulator piston 40 is provided to maintain pressure in the system. An air vessel 45 is also provided to prevent hunting. The device may be applied to more than two machines. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the feature that the apparatus may be employed for the distant control of a single machine in which case one pump is driven by a master machine the speed of which is variable by hand. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
