Abstract

Chlorinated dibenzyls are obtained by treating chlorbenzenes with ethylene dichloride according to the Friedel-Craft reaction, in presence of aluminium chloride. According to examples, ethylene dichloride is condensed with trichlorbenzene to give a liquid hexachlordibenzyl, and a solid product, and with dichlorbenzene to give a tetrachlordibenzyl. The products are used as insulating and dielectric materials.
