432,248. Hand - rails. SHELTON, H. A., SHELTON, C. H. T., and SHELTON, G. E., Spencer Bridge Works, Northampton. Dec. 12, 1934, No. 35697. [Class 45] [See also Groups XXXI and XXIII] A flexible and easilyapplied hand-grip or covering for cycle handle-bars, hand-rails, &c. consists of a coil 2 or a series of separate rings of celluloid strip secured on to an inner tube or sleeve 1 of flexible material, such as rubber or woven fabric, each ring or convolution of the coil being slightly spaced apart from the adjacent rings or convolutions. The celluloid strip may be wound helically as a continuous strip on the inner tube when placed on a mandrel, and may be secured by adhesive, or by dipping in a solvent and then allowing the solvent to evaporate. In the case of a rubber or like inner tube, its outer surface may be formed with a helical channel, or with a series of annular grooves, to receive the celluloid coil or rings.
