432,178. Envelopes, bags, &c. OTTINGER, N., 31, Nassau Street, New York, U.S.A. Sept. 14, 1934, No. 14033/35. Divided out of 428,763. [Class 146 (i)] [See also Group XVII] An expansible file envelope, bag, or similar container is provided with an external inverted pocket adapted to be engaged by a closing flap with a return bend which can be adjusted to form a locking tongue of greater or less depth according to the expansion of the container. The file envelope is made of card, stout paper, or other relatively stiff material, and comprises a back a and front b connected by expansible gussets c. An inverted pocket 1 is formed on the upper edge of the front b by securing a strip of two or more plies of material thereto, or by bending over an extension of the upper edge and securing the ends of the extension to the front b. The securing flap 2 is formed integrally with the back 1 and is lined with linen 2<a>. A series of scored lines 8 are provided on the flap 2 so that the flap can be readily flexed along the lines to form a relatively stiff locking tongue 3 adjustable in depth according to the contents of the container. A tab 4 is secured to the tongue 3 to facilitate the disengagement of the tongue from the pocket 1.
