Abstract

431,025. Making paper bags. ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES C. & A. HOLWEG, 42, Rue Jacques KablÚ, Strasbourg, France. Nov. 30, 1934, No. 34475. Convention date, Oct. 16. [Class 94 (ii)] Associated with the drum 1 of a crossed bottom bag-making machine is a device 40, for folding down the rear corner of the bottom, which comprises a T-shaped arm, the free end of the stem of which is fastened to a rotary shaft, the forwardly extending arm 42 being pivotally mounted and carrying a projection subjected to spring influence and provided with a roller 43 which engages a stationary or slowly rotating cam 44. Elementary bag tubes fed to the drum are scored at 34 and have their front ends opened by pneumatic means 9, 11, a bent blade device 35, 36 assisting in forming the bottom square. Adhesive is applied at 25 and the bottom square scored at 37, a roller 39 effecting the folding over of the leading corner of the square. The quickermoving device 40 now folds over the rear corner of the square, the bag being held by bands 38. The completed bag is then passed on by a belt 45 below a presser roll 46 to delivery.
