Abstract

429,370. Ambulances. PATTON, A. M., 5, Montgomery Street, Belfast. Jan. 10, 1934, No. 917. [Class 108 (i)] A litter carriage is provided with a hinged wheeled undercarriage adapted to be locked in its raised and lowered positions with respect to the stretcher frame the locking or latching means being adapted to be operated by the attendant so that in loading the carriage on to an ambulance the undercarriage, unlocked, is forced up into its raised position. The stretcher frame 9 has a hinged undercarriage 12 provided with wheels 14 and the latch means comprise rods 19 connected at the rear by a rod 20 against which the attendant presses to disengage the latch means. The other ends of the rods 19 are provided with projections 17, Fig. 5, engaging pivoted latches 16 adapted to engage the part 15<2> of the undercarriage. The rear of the litter carriage is provided with a rest frame 29 frictionally engaging a crossbar 11 and adapted to be folded up. A bracket on the rest frame may be provided to prevent the unintentional unlatching of the undercarriage. The front of the litter carriage is provided with supports 27 adapted to slide on the floor A of a stretcher support B situated in an ambulance. This support B is provided with a projection F to prevent the withdrawal of the litter carriage until the undercarriage is lowered in unloading. During loading the undercarriage is raised when unlocked, by coming in contact with the floor A of the ambulance support.
