Abstract

234,187. Shields, G. Feb. 25, 1924. Vehicle fittings.- To facilitate the loading of a barrel on to supporting rollers on a. hand-truck, a sling d, d<1> is provided on an overhanging part a<2> of the truck frame and the arrangement is such that the sling can be engaged with the ends of the barrel when the truck is tilted forwards and the wheels raised from the ground. The barrel can be raised over the supporting rollers i, i' by tilting the truck backwards. The barrel is allowed to rest against the uprights a' whilst the sling is detached, and the truck is then tilted forwards slightly until the barrel drops into position on the rollers i, i<1>. The hook m supporting the sling may be swivelled on a threaded shank passing through a nut n pivoted in the support a<2>, so that the hook can be lowered to bring the barrel on to the rollers and permit disengagement of the sling.
