Abstract

429,305. Bottle crates. READ, F., and SHEPHERD, H. B., Talbot Mill, Ellesmere Street, Hulme, Manchester. March 2, 1934, No. 6685. [Class 18] A bottle crate of metal comprises a bottom formed of a single or several strips 3 set on edge and carrying a lattice platform 6, rounded corner members 4 inset at the top to facilitate stacking, an oval tube 9 secured to the inset portions of the members 4, and compartmentforming grids 8. The platform 6 comprises interlaced strips whose ends are passed through slots in the strips 3 and then riveted over, and the grids 8 are formed of strips set on edge with the transverse strips passed through horizontal slots in the longer strips and twisted vertically intermediate these slots. The tube 9 is flattened where it is riveted to the members 4.
