Abstract

373,007. Handles for boxes, trays, &c. PORTER, R. H., 18, Windsor Avenue, Great Yarmouth. July 23, 1931, No. 21061. [Classes 18 and 133.] The handles of boxes, trays, or like carriers for fruit, fish, &c. are arranged to be slidable vertically on guides attached at the upper and lower ends to the side walls, so that they may be depressed to facilitate the stacking of the carriers. The sides 3 of the strip-metal handle 1, Fig. 1, are formed with flanges 4 engaging over guide pieces 5 attached to the walls of the carrier in the manner shown. Fig. 4 shows a modified construction in which the sides of the handle are formed with slots 12, the curledover attachment pieces 10 at the upper ends of the guides passing through the slots. Fig. 5 shows a construction in which the handle and guides are formed from wire rod, the side pieces 3 having loops 4b, 4c, slidable over the guides 5. The side walls 6 of the carriers are formed of less height than the end walls, or are suitably recessed to accommodate the handles.
