Abstract
237,694. Miller, A. J., and Wilson, D. H. June 18, 1924. Crates of skeleton formation.-A bottle crate comprises upper and bottom frames consisting wholly or in part of U-section material, spaced apart by angled corner pieces 11 and by intermediate members 15, the upper and lower ends of which are received within the channelled parts of the frames and secured thereto by bolts &c. The bottom frame is provided with longitudinal and cross wires forming a bottom support and defining the lower ends of the bottle cells, a few only of these wires being shown. The top frame has also cell-defining wires (see Fig. 1) and also stay-pieces 4, 5 (not shown in Fig. 3). Fig. 3 shows the invention as applied to a deep crate, an intermediate frame 2' being provided; the upper set of cell-defining wires is attached to the frame 2 when present, the upper frame merely having the stay pieces. Handles may be provided, and the top and bottom frame may be so dimensioned as to facilitate stacking of the crates.
