429,182. Insulators. STEATITE & PORCELAIN PRODUCTS, Ltd., Stourport, Worcestershire.-(Hermsdorf Schomburg Isolatoren Ges. ; Hermsdorf, Thuringia, Germany) Nov. 23, 1933, No. 32750. [Class 36] To reduce losses in a highfrequency ceramic bushing insulator, the body of the bushing is formed with an integral and ribbed supporting flange of large diameter, the outer edge of which is preferably provided with a metal coating adapted to contact with an earthed metal support. The Figure shows an insulator comprising a porcelain cylindrical body 1 having a central channel 2 through which flows the cooling water of a high frequency transmitter, the body 1 being formed with a central supporting flange 7 which is formed with annular ribs 8-11 and provided on its rim with a closely adhering metal coating 12. The coating 12 extends over the outer faces of the ribs 9, 10. The ends of the body 1 have metallised surfaces 4, 6 to which are cemented connecting fittings 3, 5. The bushing may be made of the material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Frequentite " or of similar non-alkaline ceramic material containing a high proportion of magnesium silicate.
