Abstract
428,175. Wire resistances. HOFER, H., 131, Bachstrasse, Aarau, Switzerland. July 30, 1934, No. 22228. [Class 37] A flexible heating-element is produced by inserting a resistance conductor between moulded ceramic insulators, inserting the member so formed in a sheet metal shell, and then subjecting the whole to pressure to crush the insulators and shape the element. The resistance conductor H is a wire bent to zig-zag form, a thin band, or a zig-zag stamping. The insulators I are of aluminium oxide and are formed in halves in one of the ways shown. The shell R, Figs. 19, 24, is a seamless tube or is formed by closing a channel section and packing strip. The cross section of the element in its final form may be circular, kidney-shaped, or as shown in Fig. 24. Its axis may be of sinuous or hairpin form. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to U.S.A. Specification 1,913,355.
