Abstract
427,853. Printing-surfaces. NELSON, I. T., Parkside Works, Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh. July 19, 1934, No. 21090. Addition to 398,918. [Class 100 (ii)] In a printing-plate assembly as described in the parent Specification, adjustable struts are provided between the adjacent rows of clamps instead of non-adjustable distance pieces, so as to permit independent adjustment of the plates. In one form, Figs. 1 and 2, each plate 1 has a pair of opposite edges engaged each by a single clamp 2 having two recessed portions 39 engaging the longitudinal guide grooves 4 in the bed 3. The struts comprise screws 35 housed in the portions 39 so as to lie below the plates and provided with integral perforated collars 38 for the reception of a tommy bar and nuts 36 prevented from turning by their engagement with the sides of the grooves 4. The collars and nuts of the intermediate rows of struts abut against the clamps, but, in the case of the end rows of plates, the collars engage the fixed and adjustable abutment bars 13, 16. In a modification, particularly for use in multicolour work, two short clamps arranged near the corners of the plates are employed, instead of the long clamp 2 shown, so as to allow of slight angular adjustment of the plates.
