Abstract
427,673. Ball mills. BARRATT, F. R., 12, Otto Street, Krugersdorp, Transvaal, South Africa. March 20, 1934, No. 8731. Convention date, Nov. 11, 1933. [Class 59] A tube mill for wet grinding is mounted on a flat frame of structural steel having a plane undersurface, the means for supporting and rotating the barrel being mounted on the chassis. As shown the tube 2 is mounted at one end on rollers 23 and by a trunnion bearing 9 at the other. The driving gear for the belts 12 is mounted on the framework supporting the mill and the belts 12 are tensioned by jacks 19. The bearing 9 may be dispensed with and the tube mounted at each end on rollers 23. The tube may be mounted on rollers and driven by a pinion mounted on the framework 8 engaging a spur gear on the tube. The girders 20 may be extended to carry a roof structure and additional columns may be bolted to the girder 20 to provide a gantry when erecting the mill. Specification 427,672 is referred to.
