Abstract

379,122. Vehicle stands. ELLSON, B. E., Abford House, Wilton Road, Victoria, London. Oct. 2, 1931, No. 27397. [Classes 79 (ii) and 79 (iii).] A crane or other hoisting device for transferring loads between vehicles or to or from the ground comprises an overhead frame A, R, on a base B which forms a stand for a motor vehicle D and is provided with means bv which the vehicle wheels drive the hoist. As shown, the stand is a portable crane with tracks C and with rollers I driven by the wheels and connected through spur and worm gearing with a winding drum K. The stand is mounted on wheels G and is provided with ramps and with chocks for the front wheels of the vehicle. Gearing and clutches may be provided for luffing and for slueing the crane. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the vehicle S is on the opposite side of the device which forms a slueing crane. The base may be extended to support both vehicles, the power being obtained from either or both of them.
