Abstract
427,433. Plug couplings; collectors. BRITISH INSULATED CABLES, Ltd., BAYLES, E. A., and MASSEY, F., Helsby, near Warrington, Cheshire. Dec. 14, 1933, No. 35178. [Class 38 (i)] A rotary collector disposed within a socket coupling comprises a spindle 19 on which are threaded metal rings 22 spaced by insulating bushes 23. The rings are connected by strips 130 with respective terminals 25 in a trefoil member 29 the strips lying in grooves in the spindle to prevent relative rotation between it and the member. The bushes, rings and member are retained axially by a threaded sleeve 21 through holes 31 in which the cores of the supply cable 27 pass to the relative terminals 25. The sockets 7 are connected with strips 13, portions 15 of which constitute brushes for making contact with the rings. An earthing strip passes through the connector casing and bears on the end ring 22<1>. The Provisional Specification describes a somewhat different construction, screws and sockets on the rings engaging in channels in the spindle and serving to anchor the conductors to the rings being employed instead of the member 29 and strips 130.
