Abstract

426,824. Vulcanizing tyres. VOGT, L. T., 213, Sydney Road, Coburg, Victoria, Australia. Jan. 1, 1934, No. 91. [Class 70] Tyre-vulcanizing apparatus of the full circle type adjustable for tyres of different sizes comprises an annular matrix -supporting member subdivided radially into a number of sections, and means for simultaneously imparting radial movement to the sections to vary the diameter of the supporting member for the reception of different sized matrixes. The matrix may be surrounded by an electrically heated blanket divided radially into a number of sections which are detachably mounted on the adjustable supporting member. As shown, the apparatus comprises a base plate 2 on which are mounted four sections 4<a> adapted to receive the matrix 6. The sections are mounted to slide radially and are pressed outwards by springs. The sections are simultaneously adjusted by means of a rotatable ring 21 having rollers 32 engaging cams 31 on the sections. The matrix is heated by an electrically heated aluminium blanket comprising four radial sections 41 fitting between the supporting sections 4<a> and the matrix. The matrix is of unbroken ring form and is preferably of aluminium.
