Abstract
1,087,570. Tyre moulding. McNEIL CORPORATION. June 8, 1966 [Jan. 27, 1966], No. 25546/66. Heading B5A. A tyre vulcanizing press includes a tyre band support mechanism 15 used in the loading of unvulcanized tyre bands into the press, the mechanism comprising four circumferentially spaced arms 40 each pivoted at 39 to a block 37, and having a portion 41 which engages the tyre band T adjacent its upper bead. Each block is radially adjustable in radial slot of a spider 30 on top of a shaft 23 supported in a jackscrew 20 carried by a beam 18 at the front of the press. The weight of the tyre band on the arms is counterbalanced by a weight 25 slidable on the shaft and connected to the arms by pivoted links 28. Adjustment of the blocks radially is simultaneously effected by a manually rotated plate 45 having cam trackways through which cam followers 47, which are screwed to the blocks, pass.
