Abstract
426,570. Furnace roofs. HILLSDON, C. E., 52, Northcote Road, St. Margaret's, Twickenham, Middlesex. Oct. 26, 1933, No. 29679. [Class 51 (ii)] A suspended furnace roof comprises longitudinal and transverse rows of main hanger blocks 9 from and between which are suspended intermediate blocks 10 adapted in their turn, to support filler blocks 11, the three types of block 9, 10, 11, being formed with a plurality of offset portions 20 which interengage to retain the blocks in position and to provide zig-zag expansion joints there - between. The main blocks 9 are supported from overhead channelbeams 3 by inclined rods 5 which are formed with hooked upper ends 6 and are detachably secured at their lower ends to the blocks by nuts 7 which bear on bars 8 engaging under inclined lugs 19. The joints between the uppermost offset portions 20 are filled in with granular or plastic sealing material which may be applied as a layer 17 entirely covering the exposed upper faces of the blocks 10, 11.
