Abstract
425,713. Accelerometers. PULLIN & CO., Ltd., R. B., and PENGELLY, C. G., Phoenix Works, Seaford Road, West Ealing, London. Dec. 1, 1933, No. 33841. [Class 106 (iii)] [See also Group XX] An inclinometer or accelerometer comprises a top-heavy pivoted member carrying a pointer and resiliently urged into the zero position. As shown, the pointer 1 is connected by a bowed-out wire framework to a spindle pivoting in fixed bearings 4 and is urged to a position vertically over the pivots by two opposed spiral springs 7 which are connected at one end to the spindle and at the other to an adjustable anchoring device. Two wire arms 11 projecting radially from the spindle carry adjustable weights (not shown). An aluminium vane fixed to the spindle and moving in a sector-shaped box 13 provides damping. The pointer 1 may give its indications on the same dial as an aircraft turn indicator, the pointer spindle of the latter passing between the bowed - out wire arms supporting the pointer 1.
