Abstract

<PICT:0424841/IV/1> <PICT:0424841/IV/2> Apparatus for dyeing textiles employs a multiple-way valve serving ports 10, 11, 12, 16, 22 and 23 in a cylindrical valve casing 2 and consisting of a rectangular, preferably curved, plate 4 through which passes a pipe 5, preferably bent. The apparatus comprises a storage tank 15 connected to the port 12, a water supply 20 and pump 21 connected to the ports 16 and 22, a dyeing chamber 1 connected to the ports 11, 10, and steam, compressed air or gas, and air suction supplies 24, 25 and 26 and an outlet 27 connected to the port 23. By suitable adjustment of the valve, the chamber 1 is filled with dye pumped from the tank 15, the dye is forced in opposite radial directions through the material, and the chamber is emptied. Air suction then removes superfluous liquid from the material. A supply of developing fluid from the tank 15 may precede the dyeing operation, or the material may be wetted out by steam. After dyeing, compressed air or gas may be supplied, for example, for oxidation, and water may be supplied for rinsing, superfluous water being removed by suction.
